Location: Rochester, NY, with on-site work at offices in Rochester and/or Rush, NY; willingness to travel to client sites and suppliers is required, typically 25%.

Salary: $106,563–$159,845 per year, plus potential annual incentive and/or long-term incentives.

What you will do

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight for the process and mechanical engineering team.
  • Allocate workload, optimize resource utilization, and manage departmental capacity against project demands.
  • Provide hands-on engineering support, technical guidance, and design review leadership for process and mechanical builds.
  • Lead estimating, scope definition, resource planning, and risk mitigation for engineering work.
  • Collaborate with project managers, design and engineering leads, and other functional groups to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement of design tools, standards, workflows, and team performance.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of experience in chemical, process, and/or mechanical engineering, preferably in an engineering services or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering workflows, workload balancing, labor-hour planning, project estimating, and departmental capacity management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and team management skills.
  • Strong design skills using AutoCAD 2D/3D; SolidWorks experience is preferred.
  • Experience gathering, documenting, and communicating technical project requirements and estimating engineering design project costs.
  • Ability to work on-site at offices in Rochester, NY and/or Rush, NY, with travel to client sites and suppliers typically 25%.

Nice to have

  • Experience leading and mentoring technical teams, interviewing, onboarding, and delivering performance evaluations.
  • Experience designing industrial equipment and/or automation solutions.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or a similar quality system.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
