Senior HTS Magnet Engineer (Fusion Energy)

hirify.global is developing fusion energy technology based on stellarator physics and computer-controlled arrays of planar high-temperature superconducting coils.

What you will do

• Design, build, and test high-temperature superconducting magnets for planar-coil stellarators.
• Develop magnet specifications based on system design and performance goals.
• Optimize magnet designs using Ansys, COMSOL, or comparable multiphysics simulation software.
• Develop design tools, data-analysis software, and algorithms using Python or similar technologies.
• Apply design-for-manufacturing principles, support tooling and manufacturing, and collaborate with vendors on qualified hardware.
• Design and execute magnet testing, track program milestones, and communicate results with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in physics, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with magnets, cryogenics, vacuum systems, transformer design, or related technical systems.
• Experience with CAD software and Ansys and/or COMSOL.
• Ability to specify machining, welding, and fabrication requirements and solve multidisciplinary engineering problems.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with aggressive deadlines.
• Ability to work on-site in an industrial facility and occasionally travel, work nights or weekends, or be on call.

Nice to have

• Experience with magnetic-confinement fusion, aerospace, medical devices, or other highly technical industries.
• Experience with SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or similar CAD software.
