TL;DR
HTS Magnet Multiphysics Modeling Engineer (Fusion Energy): Developing and running analytical models and multiphysics simulations for high-temperature superconducting magnets used in a planar coil stellarator with an accent on magnetostatic, quench, AC loss, and data analysis. Focus on building Python-based analysis tools, aligning simulations with manufacturing and test data, and identifying trends and anomalies in magnet system performance.

Location: Kearny, New Jersey, United States; on-site

Salary: $85,000–$120,000 per year

Company

hirify.global is developing a simpler approach to commercial fusion energy using computer-controlled arrays of planar coils for stellarator systems.

What you will do

  • Develop analytical models for high-temperature superconducting magnet systems.
  • Run and maintain multiphysics simulations using tools such as Ansys EM, Ansys Structural, and COMSOL.
  • Collect, process, and analyze data from magnet design studies and test campaigns.
  • Build data analysis tools, scripts, and dashboards using Python or similar languages.
  • Document magnet specifications, test procedures, results, design records, drawings, and vendor documentation.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, test teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders while tracking program metrics and identifying data-quality issues.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in engineering, physics, or data analysis; internship or academic research experience may be relevant.
  • At least a bachelor's degree in physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Python or similar languages for data analysis and scripting.
  • Familiarity with magnetostatic, quench, AC loss, and electromechanical analysis.
  • Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, manage detailed records, and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Ability to work on-site in a facility with industrial hazards, including strong magnets, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and travel, nights, weekends, or on-call work may be required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Ansys or COMSOL multiphysics simulation tools.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX.
  • Experience with magnets, cryogenics, or electromagnetics.
  • Strong curiosity about magnet engineering fundamentals.

Culture & Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Employee equity through stock options.
  • 20 days of paid time off.
  • Work in a fast-paced fusion energy company focused on zero-emission energy.
