Staff Multiphysics Modeler (Fusion Energy)

What you will do

• Lead development of an integrated power plant fuel cycle model.
• Build unit-operation models and simulation tools for key fuel cycle technologies.
• Validate models, identify gaps in the literature, and define R&D requirements.
• Develop fueling subsystem processes, layouts, engineering documentation, work plans, and milestones.
• Collaborate with internal and external experts to deliver feasible, economic, and state-of-the-art models.
• Own the modeling tools, guide colleagues in their use, and influence fuel cycle modeling strategy.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or equivalent experience in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, materials science, physical chemistry, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in process systems modeling and computer programming.
• Expertise in transport phenomena, chemical processes in gases, and integrated process models.
• Experience applying first-principles methods, evaluating solution economics, managing large datasets, and analyzing results.
• Understanding of scalable simulations and version control, with a record of solving complex engineering problems in multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work on-site and comply with U.S. export control laws for controlled or protected technologies and information.

Nice to have

• Python or Matlab experience.
• Experience with multiphysics tools such as Comsol or process simulators such as HYSYS.
• Fusion energy, chemical engineering, or atom and molecular mass transport experience.
• Engineering management tools, Confluence, JIRA, or remote collaboration tools.
