Mechanical Engineer, Machine Design Team Lead (Industrial Automation)

Location: Onsite in Rochester, New York, with occasional travel of up to 25% to client sites and project locations

Salary: $94,203.70–$141,304.60 per year, plus potential annual incentive and/or long-term incentives

What you will do

• Provide day-to-day leadership for the mechanical machine design team, including workload allocation and resource optimization.
• Coach team members, support professional development, and lead recruiting, hiring, and onboarding.
• Plan, develop, and direct engineering projects involving machine design and industrial automation.
• Create and maintain design standards and engineering calculations, and participate in client meetings and design reviews.
• Prepare multidisciplinary proposals and cost estimates, develop project plans, and support business development.
• Maintain client relationships and contribute to sales efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or a related engineering discipline.
• 7–10+ years of machine design experience in industrial automation, including robotics, servos, or custom tooling.
• More than 5 years of experience with SolidWorks.
• Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Rochester, New York and travel to client sites and project locations up to 25%.

Nice to have

• Experience leading and mentoring technical teams.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks FEA and CFD tools.
• Professional Engineer license or eligibility.
• Experience with ISO 9001, Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies.
