Senior Quantum Applications Scientist (Life Sciences)

Location: Onsite and/or hybrid from the office in Gothenburg, Sweden or Toronto, Canada. Travel: 10% domestic and international, including customer and client visits.

What you will do

• Develop hybrid quantum applications, algorithms, and scalable solutions for life sciences with practical commercial advantages.
• Collaborate with quantum compiler, cloud, and hardware engineering teams to optimize workflows for trapped-ion quantum computers.
• Evaluate classical and quantum algorithms, tools, scaling behavior, trade-offs, and crossover points, and communicate their advantages and limitations.
• Work directly with clients and life sciences partners to define and solve real-world problems using quantum computers.
• Build reusable software platforms and integrate first-of-a-kind quantum algorithms into end-to-end workflows.

Requirements

• Doctorate in life sciences or equivalent professional experience.
• Hands-on experience developing and using computational and ML/AI tools in bioinformatics, molecular biology, or advanced therapeutics.
• Track record of peer-reviewed publications and contributions to codebases.
• Experience developing, applying, and validating quantum computing algorithms and solutions in life sciences.
• Proficiency with Python and quantum SDKs such as Qiskit, PennyLane, or Cirq.
• Willingness to work with customers across time zones and schedules, with potential international travel and onsite co-location.

Nice to have

• Expertise in linear algebra, matrix decompositions, probability theory, symmetry, and computational complexity.
• Experience delivering client solutions and strong collaboration and communication skills.
