Database Upgrade Specialist (Java/SQL)

What you will do

• Deliver database upgrade services for customers undergoing cloud migrations.
• Prototype and improve tooling to automate the database upgrade process.
• Analyze customized codebases and make context-aware modifications or enhancements.
• Validate customer datasets, identify discrepancies and root causes, and apply resolutions.
• Manage code conflicts, escalate project risks, and balance multiple workstreams and deadlines.
• Mentor junior colleagues, promote continuous improvement, and develop hirify.global product expertise.

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands-on industry experience with object-oriented programming, preferably Java.
• Experience with relational databases, data modeling, SQL, web UI design and development, and XML.
• Required experience with Java, Git, and SQL.
• Proficiency in analyzing three-way merge conflicts and applying informed resolutions.
• Strong consulting, problem-solving, customer communication, and prioritization skills.
• BSc in Computer Science or equivalent; ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and LLMs.
• Experience with JSON, RESTful APIs, IntelliJ, Python, Gradle, and AWS CLI.
