Lead Software Engineer (Python)

What you will do

• Lead and manage a small engineering team through coaching, mentoring, feedback, code reviews, and technical guidance.
• Remain hands-on in the Python codebase and lead engineering best practices across the software development lifecycle.
• Own the implementation and evolution of hirify.global’s lending platform for Spain, adapting the global platform to local business, operational, and regulatory requirements.
• Design solution architectures and lead delivery of new capabilities for the Spanish business.
• Coordinate internal engineering teams and third-party providers across payments, Open Banking, communications, fraud prevention, and collections.
• Improve reliability, observability, scalability, operational resilience, Business Continuity Planning, Disaster Recovery, and production support.

Requirements

• Strong experience building and maintaining production systems in Python.
• Experience leading engineering teams or complex technical projects.
• Experience designing architectures for business-critical systems and adapting shared platforms to local market and regulatory requirements.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, cloud-native architectures, and modern software engineering practices.
• Experience integrating third-party technology providers and working with business stakeholders to develop scalable solutions.
• Experience with AWS or equivalent cloud platforms and highly available production environments.

Nice to have

• Experience in consumer lending, retail banking, or regulated financial services.
• Understanding of the end-to-end lending lifecycle, including origination, servicing, and collections.
• Experience with Open Banking, payment providers, credit bureaus, identity verification, fraud prevention, or collections platforms.
• Experience with vendor selection, operational resilience, Business Continuity Planning, Disaster Recovery, governance, auditability, and information security.
