Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Recoveries) (Python/Kotlin)

Location: Remote Poland; the majority of roles can be located anywhere in Poland.

Base pay: 308,000–428,000 zł. New hire equity: $32,000–$48,000; annual refresh: $10,000; reward equity: $0–$150,000.

What you will do

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for the Recoveries team while leading engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems.
• Design, develop, and launch scalable backend systems for managing charged-off loans and recovery strategies.
• Collaborate with product management, design, analytics, and risk teams to evaluate technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
• Build and operate batch processing and asynchronous workloads, including scheduled jobs, backfills, and large-scale data processing.
• Monitor system metrics, support availability and on-call operations, and improve code review and design standards.
• Develop engineering talent through feedback, guidance, writing, and technical talks.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience designing and operating backend systems at scale using Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience shipping web applications with declarative UI frameworks such as React or Vue.
• Experience with batch processing or asynchronous workloads, with emphasis on correctness, observability, and failure handling.
• Ability to define technical plans, design extensible systems, write high-quality code, and make significant changes safely in large codebases.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
