Senior Fullstack Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Palo Alto, United States; on-site

Salary: $175,000–$205,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.

What you will do

• Design and build scalable backend microservices for connected-vehicle and fleet infrastructure, from telemetry ingestion to product-facing APIs.
• Own features end to end across data models, services, interfaces, instrumentation, and post-launch operations.
• Build customer web applications, developer and partner portals, administration consoles, and internal fleet tooling.
• Improve API design, database schemas, event handling, observability, caching, authentication, and deployment workflows.
• Establish frontend foundations and integrate external services and partner platforms.
• Ensure production readiness through automated testing, performance monitoring, and safe deployments.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building and operating production backend services.
• Strong API design experience with REST, GraphQL, or gRPC, including versioning and backward compatibility.
• Experience with relational and non-relational data stores, live migrations, AWS, event-driven architecture, Docker, and Kubernetes or an equivalent platform.
• Practical knowledge of OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, and mTLS, plus production ownership, on-call debugging, performance optimization, and reliability engineering.
• Expert TypeScript and Node.js skills with a modern component framework, preferably React, including data-dense and real-time interfaces.
• Testing discipline, CI integration, accessibility, responsiveness, and the ability to work autonomously in a 0-to-1 environment.

Nice to have

• Go, WebSockets, WebRTC, streaming state, or multi-tenant architecture experience.
• IoT protocols such as MQTT or CoAP, device lifecycle management, and telemetry pipelines.
• Terraform, CI/CD ownership, observability tooling, large-scale data visualization, open-source contributions, or EV and connected-device experience.
