Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Salary: CAD 135,000–169,000 per year base salary

What you will do

• Design and maintain scalable pipelines for ingesting, parsing, cleaning, and indexing structured and unstructured documents.
• Architect and optimize RAG pipelines, semantic and hybrid search workflows, and context-assembly engines.
• Develop document schemas, versioning, chunking strategies, metadata enrichment, taxonomy management, and permission-aware context filtering.
• Build reliable high-throughput RESTful and streaming APIs in Python for knowledge and context services.
• Optimize background processing, database indexing, caching, queue-based operations, memory usage, latency, and compute costs.
• Implement monitoring, logging, continuous evaluation, and modular vendor-neutral architecture across data stores, embedding services, and language models.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building and maintaining production backend microservices and data pipelines with Python.
• Hands-on experience with document parsing, text chunking, metadata enrichment, and unstructured knowledge processing.
• Understanding of semantic search, vector indexing, lexical search, hybrid search, and RAG architectures.
• Strong knowledge of asynchronous Python, relational and non-relational databases, and background job processing.
• Experience designing RESTful or streaming APIs, cloud environments, containers, message queues, caching layers, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Commitment to testing, technical documentation, code reviews, and cross-functional collaboration.
