TL;DR
Acoustic Integration Engineer (Consumer AI Hardware): Integrating and scaling speaker and microphone subsystems for multimodal AI hardware, from prototype characterization through factory ramp, with an accent on transducer selection, microphone array geometry, audio measurement, and production test systems. Focus on tuning compact acoustic enclosures, preparing DSP coupling targets, leading factory acoustic failure analysis, and validating robustness across environmental and mechanical stress.

Location: San Jose, United States. International travel is expected.

Salary: $120,000–$300,000 annually base salary.

Company

hirify.global is an artificial intelligence company developing multimodal models and next-generation hardware that interact with people and the real world through speech, text, vision, and persistent memory.

What you will do

  • Own speaker and microphone subsystems from early prototypes through factory ramp.
  • Characterize speaker drivers and microphone array geometry to guide transducer selection and product integration.
  • Measure acoustic performance, including self-noise, sensitivity matching, frequency response, distortion, rub-and-buzz, and intermodulation.
  • Quantify speaker-to-microphone coupling and provide pre-conditioning targets for AEC and beamforming DSP chains.
  • Specify factory audio test sequences and bring up audio test stations for production.
  • Lead acoustic failure analysis at contract manufacturers and validate robustness across temperature, humidity, drop, and aging conditions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience in acoustic integration, transducer design, or audio test engineering for consumer hardware shipped at scale.
  • Strong knowledge of transducers, loudspeakers, and microphone array geometry.
  • Hands-on experience with acoustic measurement systems such as Klippel, SoundCheck, or Audio Precision.
  • Ability to review mechanical and acoustic CAD, read schematics, and interpret mechanical drawings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • BS in acoustics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent industry experience.

Nice to have

  • 5+ years scaling acoustic systems into mass-market consumer hardware with overseas contract manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of electrodynamic and MEMS transducer design and acoustic porting simulation using lumped-parameter, FEM, BEM, or COMSOL workflows.
  • Experience with IP-rated audio path design and exposure protection.
  • Programming fluency in MATLAB or Python for acoustic data analysis pipelines.
  • Background in voice-first or far-field audio products.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hands-on collaboration across acoustics, mechanical, electrical, firmware, operations, and reliability engineering.
  • Direct impact on the audio experience of shipped consumer hardware.
  • International travel as part of working with contract manufacturers.
  • Full-time employment with base salary and additional compensation and benefits potentially included in the total package.
