What you will do

• Conduct monthly loan audits to verify accuracy, procedural adherence, and compliance with bank standards.
• Perform pre-funding and post-funding quality-control reviews of mortgage loan files.
• Review applicable underwriting guidelines and product pages, re-verify loan-file information, and order and assess field-review appraisals.
• Communicate potential defects, update the quality-control system, and use escalation procedures when appropriate.
• Conduct special audits requested by audit, mortgage management, or regulatory agencies.
• Identify red flags, perform additional due diligence, analyze trends, and maintain operational risk controls.

Requirements

• Active FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) certification and active VA LAPP/SAR certification are mandatory.
• Recent experience underwriting both FHA and VA mortgage loans is required; candidates without the certifications will not be considered.
• Associate’s degree and at least 4 years of mortgage or underwriting experience, or at least 6 combined years of higher education and/or work experience including 4 years of mortgage or underwriting experience.
• Working knowledge of agency guidelines and experience with both retail and third-party originations.
• Proficiency in Allregs, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
• Strong communication, customer service, judgment, and pressure-management skills.
