Principal Mission Architect - International

Location: Remote from an approved location, with travel to the Mountain View facility for in-person meetings, build, and test; regular international travel of approximately 30% is required.

Salary: $170,000–$243,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop complete mission concepts and practical, cost-effective architectures based on customer needs.
• Perform mission-level analyses and own top-level mission budgets.
• Define requirements and design missions and mission payloads.
• Use Python, Julia, Matlab, C, or C++ and software tools to evaluate engineering trade-offs and system design questions.
• Evaluate spacecraft performance and constellation configurations.
• Lead collaboration among discipline engineers, scientists, customers, and international stakeholders.

Requirements

• B.S. or higher degree in a relevant engineering field and at least 12 years of experience with space missions; relevant advanced degrees may count toward experience.
• Spacecraft design and space mission design experience.
• Strong communication, presentation, coordination, and analytical decision-making skills.
• Experience with one or more of Python, Julia, Matlab, C, or C++.
• Must meet applicable U.S. export-control access requirements, including U.S. person status, eligibility for access without export authorization, or eligibility and reasonable likelihood of obtaining authorization.
• Travel to Mountain View for in-person meetings, build, and test, plus approximately 30% international travel.
