Senior Staff Software Engineer (HPC Integration)

Location: Hybrid role based at the Bothell, Washington facility, United States. Travel: 10%.

Salary: $187,358–$245,300 base salary per year, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of HPC software stack integrations, including SLURM and other open HPC platforms.
• Build efficient scheduling and parallelization solutions that reduce overhead between classical and quantum resources.
• Establish engineering practices for code quality, documentation, testing, and continuous integration and deployment.
• Lead code reviews and manage projects, priorities, deadlines, technical risks, and execution roadblocks.
• Collaborate across teams and communicate with executive leadership.
• Mentor junior staff and help build the HPC integration team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent practical experience.
• Technical leadership experience delivering projects in dynamic and ambiguous environments.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 2+ years of experience with SLURM or other HPC batch schedulers such as LSF, PBS, GridEngine, or HTCondor.
• Significant experience with C, C++, or Go, plus proficiency in Python; strong Linux experience.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, MPI, or other multiprocessing schemes.

Nice to have

• 15+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience with open-source contributions, project maintenance, and active communities.
• 5+ years of high-performance computing cluster management.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools and distributed computing frameworks such as Ray or Dask.
• Familiarity with quantum software stacks such as MQSS or OpenQSE, and exposure to quantum physics or quantum information science.
