What you will do

• Own the architecture, development, and production deployment of the primary Android application running on hirify.global hardware.
• Build Android software that interfaces with embedded systems, sensors, firmware, and device drivers.
• Manage software delivery to physical devices, including flashing, OTA updates, boot sequences, and provisioning.
• Debug across the Android stack, from framework issues to hardware-level communication protocols.
• Collaborate with hardware, embedded software, AI, and cross-functional product teams.
• Drive software from development through manufacturing and deployment to users.

Requirements

• 5+ years of Android development experience, including work with embedded or custom hardware devices.
• Strong system-level knowledge of Android, including AOSP, system services, HAL, native libraries, and device drivers.
• Hands-on experience with embedded systems, firmware integration, or low-level hardware/software interfaces.
• Experience shipping a physical product and running software reliably on production hardware.
• Experience with embedded communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, BLE, and USB.
• Proficiency in Java/Kotlin and C/C++, plus strong communication skills for translating cross-functional requirements into designs.

Nice to have

• Experience with Android Things, AOSP board bring-up, or custom Android device builds.
• Background in robotics, consumer electronics, or IoT hardware.
• Experience with RTOS or hybrid RTOS/Linux environments.
• Familiarity with AI/ML model deployment on edge devices.
• Experience analyzing and deconstructing Android device systems at the platform level.
