Lead Backend Developer (Python)

Salary: $147,300–$192,000 per year, plus potential bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Define the technical vision, system boundaries, and architecture for backend services.
• Design, implement, debug, review, and support production systems as a hands-on technical leader.
• Build scalable patterns and new features for critical messaging and integration capabilities.
• Mentor engineers, review technical designs, unblock complex initiatives, and raise engineering standards.
• Translate ambiguous product goals into technical plans, milestones, and incremental delivery paths with Engineering and Product.
• Build reliable third-party integrations and drive operational excellence through monitoring, metrics, traces, logs, alerts, incident response, and postmortems.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating backend or platform systems in production.
• Significant experience designing and operating distributed services, including stateful and asynchronous systems.
• Hands-on technical leadership experience with architecture, code review, mentoring, and end-to-end delivery.
• Experience building scalable backend services in cloud environments; Google Cloud Platform is preferred.
• Knowledge of retries, idempotency, backoffs, rate limiting, partial failures, external monitoring, and production reliability.
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative, product-minded approach to platform engineering.
