Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The role may require in-person onboarding and/or in-person identity verification.

Salary: CAD 107,000–157,300 annual base salary, with potential additional bonuses, stock grants, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and develop scalable REST, GraphQL, and event-driven APIs, microservices, and backend services using Go, Java, or Python.
• Architect distributed systems and data platforms processing millions of records across batch and real-time pipelines.
• Build streaming and ingestion systems with Kafka and Flink, as well as control-plane services for orchestration, workflows, and metadata-driven automation.
• Develop self-service infrastructure abstractions for storage, compute, and workflow provisioning, including full-stack capabilities when needed.
• Improve availability, fault tolerance, observability, performance, CI/CD, testing, and cloud-native operations.
• Partner with product, architecture, data engineering, and ML teams; contribute to technical strategy and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience building production systems.
• Strong programming skills in Go, Java, or Python.
• Experience designing distributed systems or microservices architectures and building REST, GraphQL, or event-driven APIs.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, containerization, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Ownership of production systems, including operational support and continuous improvement.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka, Flink, Spark, Trino/Presto, Hive, or EMR.
• Experience with data platforms, storage systems, orchestration engines such as Airflow or Temporal, and large-scale data processing.
• Experience with data modeling, schema design, observability, monitoring, developer platforms, or internal tooling.
