Director - Site Development (Fusion Energy)

Location: Kearny, New Jersey, United States; hybrid workplace

Salary: $125,000–$230,000 per year

hirify.global is developing a commercial fusion energy technology based on stellarator physics and computer-controlled arrays of planar coils.

What you will do

• Define and manage technical and resource-based criteria for future fusion project sites.
• Identify, evaluate, and negotiate state and local incentive packages, tax credits, and infrastructure grants.
• Act as the primary liaison with state and local governments regarding regulations and permitting.
• Build relationships with local communities and secure stakeholder trust for first-of-a-kind fusion projects.
• Manage risks involving land use, zoning, and environmental impact assessments.
• Establish and maintain schedule and cost baselines for siting, incentives, land acquisition, and construction.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience in site selection, first-of-a-kind construction project development, or government affairs within deep tech, energy, hardware, or aerospace.
• Demonstrated success negotiating complex state and local incentive packages or non-dilutive government funding.
• Experience working with legal and regulatory frameworks, zoning ordinances, term sheets, and incentive contracts.
• Experience with complex, capital-intensive infrastructure development cycles.
• Strong organization, execution, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant technical, legal, or policy field.
