What you will do

  • Develop and maintain a thermodynamic model of the power conversion system.
  • Aggregate and integrate component-owner contributions into the overall cycle model.
  • Collaborate with turbomachinery, secondary-flow, and heat-exchanger owners to incorporate component performance.
  • Define instrumentation plans for calibrating the cycle model against test results.
  • Evaluate system-level design trades to optimize performance and business outcomes.
  • Influence system architecture and design decisions as an early turbomachinery hire.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience analyzing thermodynamic cycles with a thermodynamic solver such as NPSS, Aspen, GateCycle, Flownex, or EES.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
  • Ability to work across aerodynamic, structural, manufacturing, and turbomachinery design perspectives.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous environments without established turbomachinery design best practices.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience modeling closed cycles.
  • Turbomachinery testing experience.
  • Experience with supercritical CO2.
  • Experience analyzing turbomachinery at the component-design level.

Culture & Benefits

  • Equity ownership in a rapidly growing advanced-energy startup.
  • Comprehensive medical benefits and unlimited paid time off.
  • Free daily lunch and dinner provided onsite.
  • Generous PPE stipend.
  • High-impact environment with significant ownership, autonomy, and opportunities for rapid career growth.
