Proposal Writer (Aerospace)

Location: Pittsburgh, PA, United States. Applicants must be a U.S. Person and eligible to obtain required export authorizations under ITAR and EAR regulations.

Salary: $70,000–$105,000 base salary annually, excluding benefits and bonus or incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Develop technically credible, convincing, and competitive aerospace proposals for NASA, the Department of War, and other government and civilian customers.
• Write product descriptions, technical specifications, performance requirements, white papers, and related proposal content.
• Interview engineering and scientific subject matter experts and convert technical documentation into polished proposal material.
• Collaborate with graphic designers to represent technical information visually.
• Assemble, edit, format, and revise proposals based on stakeholder feedback while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Maintain templates, boilerplate content, proposal libraries, and compliance checklists using Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and related tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physical sciences, or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of experience in aerospace or a related field.
• Ability to understand engineering and scientific language, including graphs, mathematical expressions, units, and technical terminology.
• Experience writing technical proposals, white papers, or reports.
• Excellent writing, editing, critical thinking, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to collaborate across functions, manage overlapping projects, and meet deadlines.

Nice to have

• Basic understanding of spacecraft systems and engineering principles.
• Experience writing competitive funding proposals.
