Location: Brooklyn, New York; on-site
Salary: $100,000–$120,000 annual base salary

Labs is a seed-stage AI research lab building detection products for text and images, serving education, media, and enterprise customers.
What you will do
- Translate machine-learning research, experiments, model releases, and product behavior into accurate materials for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Write and maintain model cards, technical reports, research papers, release notes, and public-facing research materials.
- Create user documentation covering product workflows, detection outputs, FAQs, prediction scores, accuracy, thresholds, uncertainty, and reliability conditions.
- Work directly with machine-learning researchers, engineers, data researchers, and programmers to close gaps in source material.
- Standardize terminology, notation, citations, and formatting across internal and public documentation.
Requirements
- Professional technical writing experience with strong structural, editing, and evidence-based judgment.
- Degree in statistics, computer science, data science, mathematics, engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Working familiarity with machine learning and model evaluation, including classification metrics, benchmarks, and uncertainty.
- Ability to explain dense technical and mathematical material accurately to audiences with different levels of expertise.
- NYC-based and available to work with the team in person.
Nice to have
- Training in scientific and technical communication or computational linguistics.
- Familiarity with text classification, calibration, prevalence effects, and false-positive/false-negative tradeoffs.
- Experience in publishing, journalism, education, trust and safety, or other settings where technical outputs inform consequential decisions.
