Continuous Improvement/Operational Excellence Engineer

Location: Torrance, California, United States; onsite work. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Salary: $175,000–$240,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Lead enterprise-wide process improvement initiatives across engineering, manufacturing, construction, supply chain, quality, laboratory operations, customer service, and other functions.
• Map, analyze, improve, and standardize end-to-end business processes while balancing efficiency, scalability, quality, safety, and delivery performance.
• Develop process architectures, interaction models, governance frameworks, ownership structures, metrics, dashboards, scorecards, and management review mechanisms.
• Facilitate Lean, Six Sigma, value stream mapping, root cause analysis, systems thinking, Kaizen, and business process reengineering activities.
• Partner with process owners and leadership to define future-state workflows and translate regulatory and quality requirements into practical processes.
• Coach leaders and teams on process ownership, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and organizational learning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial, mechanical, manufacturing, systems, quality engineering, business operations, operations management, or a related technical discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in operational excellence, continuous improvement, business process development, quality systems, industrial engineering, or operations management.
• Experience improving processes in manufacturing, engineering, construction, energy, aerospace, defense, semiconductor, nuclear, or similarly complex technical environments.
• Strong knowledge of process mapping, process analysis, root cause analysis, value stream mapping, performance measurement, and organizational process improvement.
• Familiarity with ERP, CRM, PLM, MES, DMS, QMS, LMS, LIMS, CMMS, and related operational platforms.
• Strong facilitation, communication, cross-functional collaboration, and change-influence skills in fast-paced environments.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949, NQA-1, ISO 13485, 10 CFR 830, 10 CFR 50, or similar regulatory and consensus standards.
• Experience with enterprise process ownership models, RACI development, process maturity models, governance structures, and organizational accountability systems.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, Operational Excellence, Industrial Engineering, or Systems Engineering certification.
• Experience with KPI development, balanced scorecards, management review systems, enterprise process transformation, or large-scale organizational improvement programs.
