Engineer II, Embedded, Sensors, and Safety Software (Embedded)

Location: Hybrid role based at the HQ in Henderson, Colorado, United States

Salary: $120,000–$135,000 per year, plus benefits, equity, and bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Design, implement, maintain, and integrate software and system test infrastructure for safety-critical hardware-based systems.
• Develop test cases across the software lifecycle, including hardware-in-the-loop testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
• Create automated characterization and calibration solutions for vehicle components and perception sensors.
• Develop embedded C and modern C++ software for control units, actuators, sensors, and base-vehicle interfaces.
• Triage issues, perform root-cause analysis using system context and log data, and improve deployed systems based on operational data.
• Collaborate with hardware, system safety, and test teams; deliver experiments to validate hypotheses and evaluate system performance.

Requirements

• Experience developing software test infrastructure for safety-critical systems.
• Proficiency in Python and experience developing embedded application software in C and modern C++.
• Practical familiarity with electrical and mechanical engineering, test-lab equipment, and system-level development.
• Experience with development containers, Git, CI/CD pipelines, Linux, and the full software development lifecycle.
• Experience using AI coding tools and willingness to adopt AI-assisted development workflows.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with CAN, UDP/TCP networking, DHCP, DNS, and Wireshark.
• Experience with perception sensors, GPS, encoders, safety interlock systems, autonomous vehicle fleets, or mobile robots.
• Experience with REST APIs, ROS/ROS2, IBM ELM/DOORS, and functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 and IEC 61508.
• Master’s degree in computer engineering or computer science.
