Senior Embedded Security Engineer, Flight Software (Aerospace)

Location: Fully onsite in Centennial, Colorado; the SF Bay Area; or Long Beach, California. U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, protected-individual status, or eligibility for required ITAR authorizations is required. The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is also required.

Base salary: $150,000–$205,000 in Long Beach; $145,000–$195,000 in Denver; $165,000–$235,000 in the SF Bay Area, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Harden the security posture of spacecraft embedded systems and flight software.
• Conduct security reviews of flight controller software, control systems, and communication protocols.
• Establish secure coding practices for safety-critical embedded software.
• Perform threat modeling and security architecture reviews for embedded systems.
• Integrate security features into test fixtures and CI/CD pipelines.
• Support spacecraft deployments with security monitoring and incident-response capabilities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on embedded systems development experience focused on security.
• Strong C/C++ programming skills with a deep understanding of memory safety and secure coding.
• Experience with low-level embedded software architecture, development, and security-hardened device drivers.
• Proficiency with embedded systems tools, compilers, debuggers, IDEs, and static analysis tools.
• Strong debugging skills and familiarity with embedded security standards and best practices.
• Ability to work fully onsite in the specified U.S. locations, obtain and maintain a security clearance, and meet ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Experience with the Ghommit tool.
• Spacecraft or satellite embedded software experience, or experience with other aerospace safety-critical systems.
• Experience with secure firmware updates, anti-tamper techniques, HSMs, and secure elements.
• Knowledge of CCSDS and ECSS protocols and standards.
