Senior Flight Software Engineer (C++)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States

Salary: $169,000–$216,000 annually, plus potential stock options.

What you will do

• Develop reliable C++ flight software for spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules across complete missions.
• Write structured bare-metal, RTOS, and Linux-based software for embedded processors.
• Own software design, testing, integration, verification, and validation.
• Capture requirements and perform initial design trades for open-ended technical problems.
• Collaborate with the flight software team to solve problems and ensure system quality and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
• At least 5 years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
• Strong C++ development experience and understanding of core language concepts.
• Experience with software testing, verification, and validation.
• Must work on-site in El Segundo, California.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

• End-to-end experience building and launching a spacecraft.
• Experience with real-time embedded systems, aerospace safety-critical software, CCSDS telemetry and telecommand, F' or cFS.
• Experience with Python or Rust and knowledge of analog and digital electronics.
• Familiarity with SPI, I2C, CAN, or EtherCAT.
