Principal Software Engineer, Marketplace

Salary: $155,854–$233,781 annual base pay

What you will do

• Define the technical strategy, architecture, implementation, and delivery of the ecommerce platform.
• Build systems for product discovery, vehicle configuration, checkout, payments, order management, and fulfillment.
• Code and test system components while leading code, design, functional, integration, and system reviews.
• Drive technical decisions, simplify complex problems, and balance delivery speed with long-term quality.
• Collaborate with UX and product teams to create customer-focused applications and experiences.
• Mentor engineers and support career development across the technical community.

Requirements

• 12+ years of professional software development experience building and operating scalable customer-facing systems.
• Strong technical leadership experience, including architecture definition, complex trade-offs, and cross-team engineering decisions.
• Experience with reliable distributed systems, web services, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and modern software development practices.
• Experience with headless or composable commerce, product catalogs, carts and checkout, payments, order management, and fulfillment integrations.
• Experience integrating third-party platforms and SaaS products through APIs, events, and webhooks.
• Experience with marketplace or multi-vendor commerce models and frontend performance optimization, including Core Web Vitals.
