Marketing Vehicle Technician (EV)

Location: Sterling Heights, Michigan, United States. Nationwide travel of up to 40% is required, including occasional short-notice and weekend travel.

What you will do

• Maintain the marketing and commercial fleet in pristine, camera-ready condition for photo shoots, press previews, media drives, activations, and customer events.
• Perform pre-shoot and pre-event preparation, including detailing, wrap inspection, surface correction, mechanical checks, and final quality control.
• Diagnose and repair EV powertrains, high-voltage systems, mechanical and electrical systems, and software-related issues using diagnostic tools, data logging, and wiring schematics.
• Execute vehicle upfits, retrofits, accessory and lighting installations, configuration changes, and prototype vehicle conversions with production-quality finishes.
• Maintain configuration records and inspection standards, coordinating with Service, Engineering, Quality, Creative, Marketing, Communications, and Production teams.
• Provide on-site technical leadership during nationwide events, supporting vehicle readiness, transport, loading, hand-offs, and real-time issue resolution.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional automotive technician experience, preferably with fleet, premium, prototype, marketing, or press vehicles.
• State certifications or active ASE certifications; Master Technician certification is preferred.
• Experience with ECU diagnostics, data logging, diagnostic tools, and wiring schematics.
• Demonstrated ability to meet camera-acceptable cosmetic and surface-quality standards.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% nationwide, including occasional short-notice and weekend travel.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required, with the ability to operate all fleet vehicle types; strong professional communication skills are also required.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting marketing, press, or picture-car fleets at an OEM, agency, or production company.
• Hands-on experience with high-voltage EV diagnostics, battery service, testing, and safe HV procedures.
• Fabrication, custom upfitting, accessory integration, wiring, body modifications, and component mounting experience.
• Experience with vinyl wraps, paint protection film, surface-care products, and photo or video production workflows.
• Startup or fast-paced environment experience with shifting priorities.
