Principal Firmware Engineer (C/RTOS)

Salary: $230,000–$260,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Develop and optimize firmware for hardware devices, including edge optimization on constrained systems.
• Design, implement, and test high-performance embedded subsystems.
• Write platform and application firmware across the full stack, from bootloader to high-level application code.
• Develop firmware for flash file systems, communication stacks, build tooling, and other platform components.
• Port and maintain an RTOS and integrate component firmware with the broader Lunar system.
• Lead architecture discussions, participate in code reviews, and support system testing, reliability, manufacturing, and field debugging.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience developing and architecting software across the lifecycle from prototype to production.
• Experience developing C for bare-metal systems and/or RTOS environments.
• Experience implementing power-electronics firmware control functionality.
• Ability to integrate hardware and software into end-to-end solutions.
• Experience with modern software engineering practices such as Git and continuous integration.
• Ability to contribute effectively in a small, fast-moving, multidisciplinary team.
