Staff Software Engineer (Copilot Agents)

Location: Remote, United States

Salary: USD $140,400–$372,300 per year, plus potential annual bonus, stock, benefits, and other rewards depending on role eligibility.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for systems that help AI agents acquire, interpret, retain, and apply software-development context.
• Design, prototype, implement, test, ship, and operate scalable solutions across hirify.global services and Copilot experiences.
• Build platform capabilities and APIs for context retrieval, sessions, memory, agent customization, evaluation, and feedback-driven improvement.
• Define technical strategies, architecture proposals, experiments, and executable roadmaps for ambiguous product opportunities.
• Establish evaluation methods, telemetry, and learning loops to improve agent quality, efficiency, reliability, and customer outcomes.
• Mentor engineers, participate in design and code reviews, support incident response, and influence engineering practices across teams.

Requirements

• 9+ years of experience in software engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience; alternative degree-based experience paths are accepted.
• Proven experience maintaining and delivering production software in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
• Experience with information retrieval, context retrieval, knowledge graphs, semantic systems, personalization, or persistent knowledge and memory systems.
• Experience designing or integrating production AI-agent or generative-AI features, including model orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, tool use, evaluation, or feedback loops.
• Experience defining technical direction and influencing architecture across multiple teams or organizations.
• Experience with experimentation, telemetry, offline evaluation, privacy, permissions, security, provenance, or enterprise governance requirements.

Nice to have

• Strong product and customer judgment with a record of turning ambiguous problems into reliable, maintainable systems.
• Proficiency in Rust, Go, Python, Ruby, or TypeScript.
