Application Engineer (Space)

What you will do

• Identify and characterise commercial opportunities for sustainable solutions using satellite communications, satellite navigation, Earth observation, and digital technologies.
• Engage with public and private users, stakeholders, partners, and user communities to define needs for space-based downstream applications and services.
• Develop expertise and leadership in targeted space-using markets and contribute to European market development strategies.
• Define and develop initiatives with strategic partners, including work plans, calls for proposals, tenders, and programme documentation.
• Manage contracted industrial activities, studies, demonstration projects, outsourced workforces, quality control, and proposal development.
• Coordinate with ESA directorate projects, analyse industrial activity portfolios, monitor programme tools, and propose improvements.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in engineering or a relevant discipline from a recognised institution.
• Experience in satellite communications, satellite navigation, or satellite Earth observation.
• Knowledge of space-using markets and relevant application domains.
• Experience with stakeholder management, market research analysis, and business plan preparation or assessment.
• Project management experience in digital service development.
• Fluent English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is advantageous.
