Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Hybrid, with an average requirement to work 2 days per week from an HPE office

What you will do

• Interpret complex datasets, apply statistical techniques, and build advanced measurement dashboards.
• Develop data collection systems, analytics strategies, monitoring frameworks, and success metrics for model quality, user engagement, and business outcomes.
• Analyze customer journeys using clustering, segmentation, anomaly detection, Markov chain models, survival models, and other machine learning techniques.
• Design surveys and experiments using sampling strategies, power analysis, test/control groups, propensity score matching, and bias correction.
• Partner with Data Engineering and cross-functional stakeholders to create scalable data models, canonical schemas, and analytics solutions.
• Build Power BI dashboards and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences while consulting leadership and mentoring junior data scientists.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD degree in business administration, economics, computer science, management information systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5–7+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, applied research, or measurement frameworks.
• Experience with Generative AI, RAG, multi-turn evaluation, statistical modeling, data mining, reporting, analytics, and customer journey models.
• Strong Python programming, data modeling, ETL pipeline, machine learning, statistical analysis, and dashboarding skills.
• Knowledge of significance testing, sampling strategies, power analysis, regression, exploratory data analysis, and data ethics.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, troubleshoot complex technical problems, and work independently in an ambiguous environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with customer support data, conversational AI logs, omnichannel analytics, higher-order Markov chain models, and hazard models.
• Experience with Snowflake and Databricks, Delta Lake data, Power BI connections, and business metrics views.
• Experience defining business views for advanced analytics with Data Engineering teams.
