Data Scientist (AI/ML)

Location: Washington, DC; hybrid, with 2 days a week in the office

What you will do

• Design centralized, searchable, secure data environments integrating images, metadata, device, event, location, geospatial, and other structured and unstructured data.
• Use Databricks to develop, train, validate, and deploy machine learning models and scalable analytics solutions.
• Apply advanced analytics, machine learning, computer vision, image analysis, and pattern recognition to investigative and forensic datasets.
• Develop automated workflows for image tagging, classification, indexing, metadata extraction, data ingestion, and analytical processing.
• Create predictive assessments, maps, hotspot analyses, visual summaries, and other products to identify trends and connections across investigative cases.
• Collaborate with federal leadership, investigators, forensic analysts, data engineers, and business stakeholders; provide training, documentation, and technical guidance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, or applied machine learning.
• Strong proficiency in Python, R, or similar programming languages for statistical analysis, automation, data processing, and machine learning.
• Hands-on Databricks experience in cloud-based data engineering, large-scale processing, feature engineering, model development, validation, and production deployment.
• Experience with data lakes or enterprise analytical platforms, API integrations, ETL/ELT, data pipelines, geospatial analytics, ArcGIS, and heterogeneous datasets.
• U.S. citizenship is required, and the ability to obtain and maintain the required government clearance is necessary.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting federal law enforcement, forensic analysis, criminal investigations, or other investigative missions.
• Experience with digital evidence, device metadata, image-based forensic analysis, computer vision, similarity detection, or object recognition.
• Experience with Power BI, ArcGIS dashboards, Azure, SQL, Oracle, secure data architecture, governance, access controls, and restricted environments.
