Principal Technical Program Manager (AI)

Location: San Diego, California, United States

Salary: $219,500–$297,000 annual base pay, with potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead strategic software programs and portfolios that deliver transformational customer and business outcomes.
• Define end-to-end delivery plans, governance models, operating rhythms, and accountability mechanisms for complex programs.
• Direct and orchestrate AI agent tools in program delivery, assessing opportunities, risks, and quality requirements.
• Identify risks, dependencies, performance trends, and optimal execution paths, communicating decisions and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Develop and scale repeatable program management frameworks, tools, templates, and experimentation-to-adoption practices.
• Lead complex change initiatives, influence senior leaders, and mentor program managers across the organization.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience building, leading, and delivering complex large-scale technical programs and portfolios in a matrixed organization.
• Deep understanding of software development approaches, architecture, software lifecycle, and platform architectures.
• Hands-on experience directing and orchestrating AI agent tools in complex program orchestration work, with judgment about delivery acceleration and risk.
• Experience shaping strategy, prioritizing across portfolios, making data-informed tradeoffs, and driving large-scale change.
• Ability to communicate with and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels, including senior leaders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Nice to have

• PMP or Agile certification.
• Practical technical program management experience equivalent to formal certification.
