Director, Environment (Biotech)

Location: Based at the South San Francisco, California campus; relocation assistance is not available

Salary: $169,600–$315,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Provide strategic leadership and comprehensive oversight for campus environmental programs.
• Manage air quality, stormwater, wastewater, and hazardous waste programs.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and Roche environmental requirements.
• Lead environmental incident control strategies, root-cause analysis, and contingency planning.
• Advise site senior and executive leadership on environmental risks, strategies, and operational goals.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of environmental professionals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, physical science, life science, engineering, health and safety, or a related field.
• 12+ years of progressive experience managing environmental programs at site or corporate level.
• Strong technical knowledge of environmental programs and experience providing guidance to SHE professionals.
• Working knowledge of Cal EPA, DTSC, SWRCB, EPA, and local CUPA requirements.
• Advanced knowledge of incident command processes, facility operations, and complex manufacturing systems.
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills for working with regulatory agencies and senior operations leaders.
