Vice President, People Business Partner & Employee Relations

Location: Remote US; occasional in-person work at an Affirm office and in-person onboarding may be required.

Base pay: $340,000–$380,000 per year in the USA. Total compensation may also include equity rewards, monthly health, wellness, and technology stipends, and benefits.

What you will do

• Define the strategy, structure, and operating model for the global People Business Partner and Employee Relations functions.
• Build and lead high-performing PBP and ER teams through talent decisions, development, coaching, external hiring, standards, and accountability.
• Advise C-suite and executive leaders on organizational design, workforce strategy, talent, leadership, operating models, and complex business decisions.
• Lead talent planning, succession, executive assessment, performance management, and organizational change initiatives.
• Set the global Employee Relations operating model and provide executive oversight of sensitive investigations, conduct matters, and complex employee relations issues.
• Use ER data and case trends to identify organizational risks, improve leadership effectiveness, and partner with Legal on employment practices, policy, and risk management.

Requirements

• 15+ years of progressive People leadership experience, including experience in complex, global technology organizations at scale.
• Significant experience leading a global PBP organization and building high-performing PBP teams.
• Experience leading Employee Relations, including sensitive investigations, executive-level matters, and complex employment decisions in partnership with Legal.
• Demonstrated experience partnering directly with C-suite executives while maintaining independent judgment.
• Deep expertise in organizational consulting, organizational effectiveness, executive coaching, and strategic workforce planning.
• Strong business acumen and learning agility, with the ability to understand complex businesses and form an independent view of organizational needs.
• Sharp talent judgment, including the ability to assess executive capability and advise on consequential talent decisions.
• Ability to anticipate organizational and workforce risks and opportunities, connecting patterns across the business.
• Outstanding executive presence, emotional intelligence, constructive challenge, sound judgment, and integrity when navigating sensitive people decisions and legal or reputational risk.
