Senior People Business Partner

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; office presence required Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.

Salary: $270,630–$304,420 USD annual base pay.

What you will do

• Co-create User's annual people plan and multi-year talent roadmap, covering capability gaps, succession, future skills, and investment priorities.
• Analyze the operating model, organizational design, spans and layers, and talent systems; develop and implement structural improvements.
• Lead large, multi-team changes, including reorganizations, team integrations, and new operating rhythms.
• Partner with senior leaders on leadership capability, succession, development plans, hiring programs, capacity planning, and employer brand.
• Combine engagement, attrition, performance, progression, and external research to produce insights and recommendations for senior leaders.
• Use AI tools for analysis, synthesis, and program design, and help leaders assess how AI affects team design, skills, and management.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in HR, people strategy, or organizational effectiveness, including significant senior PBP/HRBP experience partnering with VP-level leaders in engineering-centric, product-driven technology organizations.
• Demonstrated experience leading organizational design and change at scale, including reorganizations, operating model changes, or integrations affecting hundreds of people, with measurable outcomes.
• Experience building and owning multi-year talent strategies, including succession and leadership bench planning, workforce planning across build, buy, and borrow, and leadership development that improved readiness metrics.
• Strong analytical judgment, including direct work with people data, partnership with People Analytics, and the ability to turn complex findings into clear narratives for senior leaders.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools and curiosity about how AI is changing team design and the role of managers.
• Executive presence and the courage to influence senior technical leaders through credibility and evidence.
• Discretion with highly confidential information and comfort operating in ambiguity at the pace of a founder-led company.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting consumer, social, or communications products at scale, or mobile and cross-platform app organizations.
• Background in industrial-organizational psychology, organizational development, or an equivalent evidence-based discipline focused on how people work.
• Experience in a PBP/associate or HRBP/HR generalist partnership model, including mentoring and close collaboration with partner functions.
