TL;DR
Senior Director I, AP US History and African American Studies Generalist, Curriculum and Assessment (standardized assessment and curriculum): Leading the development, review, approval, and scoring of AP US History and African American Studies exams and course materials with an accent on assessment validity, fairness, reliability, and generative AI. Focus on designing assessment forms, training subject-matter experts, managing test development committees, and improving psychometric and disciplinary processes.

Location: Remote - USA. Candidates near hirify.global offices may choose fully remote or hybrid work with in-office attendance on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Occasional business travel is required, including 6–8 trips per year and up to two additional weeks for AP Reading.

Salary: $112,000–$170,000 annually, adjusted based on location, experience, qualifications, and market data.

What you will do

  • Lead assessment development, review, approval, scoring, and publication activities for AP US History and African American Studies.
  • Develop assessment content, test forms, scoring materials, and formative resources through iterative collaboration with internal teams and external subject-matter experts.
  • Train and supervise Test Development Committee members and lead face-to-face, virtual, and weekend committee meetings.
  • Use generative AI appropriately in assessment authoring and review while protecting fairness, validity, reliability, security, and quality.
  • Collaborate with psychometricians to establish fair, reliable, and valid cut scores.
  • Improve course frameworks, assessment task models, exam design, and new instructional products.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in US History, African American Studies, or a directly related discipline; a doctorate is strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in US History and African American Studies with at least 10 years of experience in standardized assessment development or related work.
  • Strong communication, organizational, planning, collaboration, technical, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience implementing processes, managing project plans and schedules, maintaining documentation, and working with constructive feedback.
  • Must be eligible and authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to travel 6–8 times per year plus up to two additional weeks for AP Reading.
