CNC Machinist

Location: Wilton, Connecticut, United States; onsite work in a clean room environment

What you will do

• Assemble cutting tools into tool-holders and load them into CNC machine spindles or tool changer magazines.
• Manually program CNC controllers and operate machine controls to set up tools and workpieces.
• Change tools and adjust offsets to maintain part specifications and compensate for tool wear.
• Read ISO blueprints, incorporate requirements into part programs, and measure workpieces for conformance.
• Document and communicate shift activities, irregularities, and continuing needs to supervisors and colleagues.
• Follow safety procedures, communicate with operators, management, and engineers, and identify bottlenecks for improvement.

Requirements

• High school, trade school, or GED qualification.
• At least 6 months of experience working with CNC machines and optical-fabrication equipment.
• Intermediate mathematics, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Experience with micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and height gages.
• Intermediate computer skills and familiarity with Windows 10, Microsoft Office, and SAP.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship and authorized to access controlled technology under U.S. export regulations.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in machining from a vocational trade program.
• Previous manufacturing-facility experience or vocational certification.
• Experience with DMG, Hurco, or Siemens controls.

• Compressed twelve-hour night-shift schedule from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and every other Saturday.

• Work in a clean room wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, and gloves throughout the shift.
• Potential exposure to lasers, magnetic fields, high voltage, chemicals, solvents, polishing slurry, moving machinery, and elevated noise levels.
