Reliability Engineer (Pulp & Paper)

Location: Office-based in Hartford City, Indiana, US. Approximately 15% travel throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

What you will do

• Lead reliability improvement initiatives for paper mill assets and eliminate chronic equipment failures through data analysis and root cause investigations.
• Develop and optimize preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies, including FMEA and RCM studies.
• Oversee predictive maintenance programs covering vibration analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasound, motor current, oil and lubrication analysis, and motion amplification.
• Use IBM Maximo to analyze equipment history, failure codes, work orders, maintenance costs, and asset performance metrics.
• Facilitate root cause failure analyses and lead continuous improvement projects focused on uptime, safety, and maintenance productivity.
• Provide reliability input for equipment upgrades, replacements, capital projects, commissioning, spare parts optimization, and criticality assessments.

Requirements

• 1–5 years of experience in reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, or industrial maintenance.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment using a CMMS, preferably IBM Maximo.
• Strong understanding of reliability principles and asset management best practices.
• Demonstrated experience with root cause analysis and equipment failure investigations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and data analysis tools.
• Ability to comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in a mill environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in pulp and paper, tissue, packaging, chemical processing, or other heavy industrial manufacturing environments.
• Vibration Analysis Certification, ISO Category I–IV.
• Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tools.
• Knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies and reliability software.
• Experience with rotating equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, fans, refiners, vacuum systems, and paper machine assets.
