Ground Station Software Engineer III (Python/C++/Rust)

Salary: $164,652–$230,512.80 annual base pay for California applicants; other site ranges may differ.

What you will do

• Design and develop distributed software systems for ground station network operations and core infrastructure services.
• Test and integrate production software running on commercial and in-house hardware.
• Build secure, high-performance APIs and interfaces for Telemetry, Tracking & Command systems and payload data workflows.
• Develop real-time web dashboards, monitoring systems, configurable alerts, and automated workflow engines.
• Integrate third-party ground stations and external customer systems across mission planning, operations, and resource allocation.
• Analyze post-mission network performance and collaborate with software, networking, RF, and DSP engineers on system improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, including 5+ years with Python, C++, or Rust.
• 5+ years of experience working in Linux environments and maintaining production-quality software.
• Experience with software automation, testing, operational features, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for internal and external customer testing.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.

Nice to have

• JavaScript and backend or full-stack application development experience.
• Ground station or communications operations experience, AWS, RESTful APIs, Ansible, and observability tooling.
• Knowledge of TCP, UDP, networking, RF, and modulation/demodulation concepts.
• Experience with generative AI, network orchestration, OSS/BSS, CRM platforms such as Salesforce, and telecommunications workflows.
