TL;DR
Mechanical Design Engineer - HVAC Systems (HVAC/Product Development): Designing and documenting airside data center fan coil wall and computer room air handler products with an accent on complex 2D/3D models, drawings, bills of material, and product lifecycle documentation. Focus on supporting prototypes and validation, designing for manufacturing and assembly, resolving complex design issues, and improving product performance and margins.
Location: Lexington, Kentucky, United States. Hybrid schedule: onsite Monday through Thursday; Friday work location is flexible based on work requirements. Travel up to 10% required.
Annual base salary: $69,600–$99,015.

What you will do
- Lead mechanical design activities for airside data center fan coil wall and computer room air handler new product development and margin expansion projects.
- Create and maintain complex 2D and 3D models, drawings, bills of material, and product documentation using CAD and product lifecycle management systems.
- Develop concept layouts, detailed designs, prototype documentation, validation documentation, and product release materials.
- Lead engineering changes, design updates, documentation revisions, and design standardization initiatives.
- Support prototype builds, product validation, test readiness, and design-for-manufacturing activities.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, operations, product management, and laboratory teams while guiding less experienced designers.
Requirements
- Relevant technical training and 10 years of experience; an associate degree in mechanical, electrical, electronic design, or a related field is required.
- Experience in design, drafting, or product documentation support.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, ProEngineer, or similar CAD tools.
- Advanced knowledge of design and drafting standards, methods, and documentation practices.
- Ability to create accurate complex models, drawings, and bills of material and function as a senior design resource.
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills, adaptability, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
