Part Time Facility / Profee Outpatient: ED, Clinic, Ancillary Medical Coder Remote

What you will do

• Review medical records to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures for emergency room facility and professional encounters.
• Assign E/M levels and principal and secondary CPT codes for outpatient ED, clinic, ancillary, injection, and infusion services.
• Apply appropriate CPT modifiers based on hospital, payer, and state guidelines.
• Abstract required information from medical records according to client guidelines.
• Request physician clarification for ambiguous or conflicting documentation.
• Participate in coding roundtables and maintain current knowledge of Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and official coding guidelines.

Requirements

• Required CPC and COC coding credentials.
• 3+ years of experience coding Facility-HB outpatient charts across ancillary, clinic, and emergency department settings.
• Experience with ICD, CPT, E/M, injection, and infusion coding.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes.
• Knowledge of CPT coding principles, reimbursement systems, and federal, state, and payer-specific documentation, coding, and billing regulations.
• A passing score on the coding proficiency test is required.
