Senior Database Administrator (Microsoft SQL Server)

hirify.global is hiring for an enterprise database administration role supporting mission-critical systems.

What you will do

• Deploy, configure, monitor, and tune Microsoft SQL Server instances across clustered, standalone, and Azure environments.
• Develop and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, scripts, indexes, and SQL Agent automation.
• Design backup and recovery strategies, conduct restore testing, and maintain RPO/RTO compliance.
• Implement and maintain high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, replication, and failover clustering.
• Lead platform modernization, including legacy SQL Server consolidation, cloud migration assessments, Synapse and Fabric administration, and licensing optimization.
• Standardize alerting, governance, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD database deployments, documentation, and knowledge sharing across data engineering, BI, application, and infrastructure teams.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments.
• Expert-level T-SQL skills and hands-on experience with performance tuning, monitoring, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
• Hands-on expertise in high availability, disaster recovery, security hardening, encryption, roles, permissions, and audit readiness.
• Working knowledge of Azure SQL and Azure Synapse Analytics, including IAM and analytical workload optimization.
• Experience upgrading and migrating legacy SQL Server versions, including SQL Server 2012 and 2016.
• Ability to lead cross-functional projects, communicate database decisions clearly, and provide 24/7 coverage for critical production systems.

Nice to have

• Production experience with DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, or other relational and NoSQL platforms.
• Experience with Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, SSIS, dbatools, and CI/CD for databases.
• Experience with Synapse MPP workloads, Microsoft Fabric row-level security, Datadog, Microsoft Purview, or comparable governance platforms.
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks and audit-readiness practices.
