Senior Database Administrator (Azure)

What you will do

• Operate MS-SQL Server across on-premises VMs, Azure IaaS SQL VMs, and Azure PaaS SQL environments.
• Optimize database performance through query tuning, execution plan analysis, indexing, fragmentation remediation, TempDB and statistics management, and blocking or deadlock resolution.
• Manage high availability and disaster recovery, including Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, geo-replication, failover and failback, and backup and restore operations.
• Provision, configure, patch, upgrade, and troubleshoot Azure SQL resources, including elastic pools, Managed Instance, SQL VMs, sizing, throttling, and auto-failover groups.
• Manage Azure database connectivity through VNets, subnets, private endpoints, route tables, NSGs, DNS, and hybrid connectivity.
• Automate operations, support database migrations and incidents, participate in 24x7 Tier-3 and Tier-4 on-call support, and maintain technical documentation.

Requirements

• 8–12 years of database administration experience, including 5+ years supporting cloud-based SaaS platforms.
• Advanced MS-SQL Server experience covering performance tuning, indexing, troubleshooting, clustering, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Strong Azure PaaS SQL and Azure networking knowledge, including Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, VNets, private endpoints, NSGs, peering, and DNS.
• Experience with T-SQL, PowerShell, Python or Shell, and Azure CLI; Terraform or Bicep knowledge is useful.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent.
• Strong cross-team communication, customer-facing service skills, ITIL exposure, and readiness to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.

Nice to have

• PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Databricks experience.
• DP-300 or AZ-104 certification.
• Experience with emerging cloud database technologies.
