Staff Engineer (Java)

Location: Hybrid in Barcelona, Madrid, Buenos Aires, São Paulo, or Montevideo

What you will do

• Translate department goals and product requirements into technical solutions with technology leaders and product teams.
• Design, develop, and maintain Java applications and systems.
• Lead the architecture and design of scalable, maintainable Java-based projects.
• Optimize application performance, database queries, and resource utilization.
• Identify design flaws and system bottlenecks through performance and validation testing.
• Prepare system performance reports and conduct code reviews to maintain development standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or computer science.
• At least 7 years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong experience in Java application development, software architecture, object-oriented design, and design patterns.
• Experience with Spring, Hibernate, event-driven architecture, and the software development life cycle.
• Experience monitoring production applications with tools such as New Relic, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, CloudWatch, and ELK.
• Upper-intermediate written and spoken English proficiency.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
