Welding Engineer

Location: Onsite in Bridgwater, Somerset, United Kingdom, at Hinkley Point C; Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

What you will do

• Provide technical oversight and guidance for pipework welding activities during construction and installation.
• Develop, review, qualify, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications and Procedure Qualification Records.
• Monitor weld quality, rejection rates, defect trends, inspections, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
• Control welding consumables, materials, preheat requirements, heat treatment, storage, handling, and traceability.
• Support construction sequencing, equipment calibration, technical issue resolution, and production improvements.
• Coordinate with construction, engineering, QA/QC, planning, logistics, client, and third-party inspection teams.

Requirements

• Experience in welding engineering and technical support for pipework installation or industrial construction.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, weld maps, Welding Procedure Specifications, and project requirements.
• Knowledge of welding procedure qualification testing, PWHT, mechanical testing, and applicable codes and standards.
• Understanding of weld inspection, Inspection and Test Plans, defect investigation, non-conformance resolution, and traceability.
• Knowledge of welding consumables, material compatibility, preheat requirements, and heat treatment.
• Ability to work onsite at Hinkley Point C in Bridgwater, Monday to Friday for 40 hours per week.
