Applied Data Scientist (Fintech)

Location: New York City; hybrid, with office attendance at least three days per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays

Salary: $190,000–$200,000 annual base salary, plus equity, benefits, and additional perks

What you will do

• Develop and maintain credit risk, repayment, underwriting, and decision models.
• Design predictive features from transaction-level data to model income flows, spending, and repayment behavior.
• Deploy, monitor, and optimize production ML models using AWS and Snowflake ML Platform.
• Prototype new modeling methodologies and present findings to stakeholders.
• Investigate credit performance, model drift, and unexpected repayment behavior.
• Partner with product, risk, and engineering teams to improve products and credit strategies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in data science and machine learning.
• End-to-end experience leading data science projects from research and model development through deployment and monitoring.
• Experience building and productionizing credit or risk assessment models.
• Strong Python, SQL, and modern ML library skills, including tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or XGBoost.
• Experience working with large transactional and time-series datasets.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills in a fast-paced production environment.

Nice to have

• Fintech or credit risk modeling experience.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, Snowflake ML Platform, or other cloud-based ML environments.
• Knowledge of model explainability techniques and financial modeling compliance requirements.
• Experience with time-series forecasting, trend detection, and temporal feature engineering.
