Senior Test Engineer (Data)

Location: Remote within Spain, aligned with the Spain time zone

What you will do

• Design and execute test strategies for data pipelines and analytics solutions.
• Validate data flows across bronze, silver, and gold medallion architecture layers.
• Test ETL data quality rules, exception handling, defaulting logic, transformations, and edge cases.
• Verify data consistency, completeness, integrity, and reconciliation across source and target systems.
• Validate self-service analytics and reporting outputs, including calculations, filters, aggregations, presentation logic, usability, and business alignment.
• Document and follow up on defects and data issues while collaborating with data engineers, business analysts, developers, and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience as a Test Engineer, QA Engineer, or Data Test Analyst in complex data environments.
• Hands-on experience testing medallion or other layered data architectures and strong experience validating ETL processes.
• Strong understanding of data quality testing, including completeness, accuracy, duplication, reconciliation, and consistency checks.
• Experience testing exception scenarios, defaulting rules, edge cases, self-service analytics, calculations, aggregations, and report outputs.
• Ability to work autonomously with strong analytical, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in banking, financial services, or other highly regulated environments.
• Experience with cloud data platforms or modern data lakehouse approaches.
• Knowledge of SQL for data validation and reconciliation.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar BI and reporting tools.
• Experience in Agile teams and with automated data testing frameworks or test management tools.
