Loss Mitigation Underwriter I-4 (Mortgage)

Salary: $22.61–$37.67 per hour USD

What you will do

• Submit loan modification workups across investor workout waterfalls and calculate compliant modification terms.
• Review borrower hardship letters, tax returns, income statements, pay stubs, credit reports, debt sources, and other financial documents.
• Assess income, expenses, property values, appraisals, title documents, and buyer offers for short sale settlements.
• Coordinate with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, M&T Bank, customers, real estate agents, attorneys, title teams, and loss mitigation closing teams.
• Negotiate short sale offers, prepare loans for foreclosure mediation hearings, and resolve clouded title issues.
• Maintain portfolio records, prepare workout summaries, support audits, and complete due diligence reviews and other projects.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of combined higher education and/or experience, including 2 years of collections or underwriting experience.
• Effective and professional telephone communication skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software.
• Knowledge and understanding of land title.
• Work location: Getzville, New York, United States.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Paralegal certification or experience.
• Mortgage collections experience.
• Knowledge of M&T systems.
